The Spruce Place Story

Woodworking has been part of my life long before I ever picked up my first tool.

I began woodworking ten years ago—learning, experimenting, and steadily refining my craft. What began as a simple interest grew into something deeper as I realized that working with wood felt less like a hobby and more like a connection to something I’d always carried with me.

My grandfather was a World War II veteran and a master carpenter. After the war, he went on to design and build custom homes along Cape Cod and throughout the coastal communities around Boston. His work was known for its craftsmanship, character, and durability—homes built to withstand both time and the harsh coastal environment. I grew up in one of those homes, surrounded by the details he designed and built by hand.

I never had the chance to truly know him—he passed away when I was just 10 years old. Yet, in many ways, his influence has always been present. Through the homes he built, the strength of his craftsmanship, and the quiet legacy he left behind, I found inspiration long before I understood its source.

Like my grandfather, I am also a veteran. And like him, I found a deep respect for working with my hands—creating things that are useful, honest, and built to last. Woodworking became more than a skill; it became a way to honor service, discipline, and the pride that comes from building something meaningful.

When I step into the shop, I’m not just making furniture or projects—I’m continuing a story. Each piece reflects the belief that craftsmanship matters, that quality outlives trends, and that heritage can live on through the things we create.

This isn’t just woodworking to me. It’s a shared legacy—one I’m proud to carry forward.
